Extra Personalisation

We have now added extra personalisation, in addition to the Forename and Surname fields.

Entering extra personalisation into your lists
You can upload personalisation with email addresses in a CSV file. You can also capture extra personalisation data via a subscribe form. If you have already been collecting extra data through a subscribe form, your existing fields have automatically been converted to personalisation fields for you, and you will still be able to download as a CSV file the extra data collected through your forms. Please log in to your email manager account and check the field names in 'Extra Personalisation'.

If you do not yet have a subscribe form you can build one to include extra fields to capture personalisation. See 'Get HTML code for creating subscribe/unsubscribe forms' within your account menu to obtain the correct HTML to use in your subscribe form.

If you intend to use extra personalisation you must first define the field names within your account menu option 'Extra Personalisation'. Any extra fields posted from your subscribe form that are not defined within your personalisation settings will be ignored.

To use personalisation within your email messages simply drop the following variables into your email template :-

Forename: <em:forename>
Surname: <em:surname>

Extra personalisation fields: <em:fieldname>

where 'fieldname' corresponds to the field name defined in your 'Extra Personalisation' settings.

Note: When uploading a bulk file of email addresses you can choose to overwrite any existing personalisation associated with an email address that already exists within your account.

The extra personalisation feature is free and is now accessible from your email manager menu!

Double Opt-in

About Double Opt-in
This is an optional feature that is not enabled in your account by default. It can be set up for your account on request.

With the tough new laws on commercial email now in force, it is more important than ever to ensure that your subscriber lists contain genuinely opted in email addresses. The traditional 'single' opt-in method of collecting new susbcribers is potentially open to abuse as it is possible for an email to be added to your list without the consent of the email recipient. However with double opt-in the new susbcriber is required to click on a link within a confirmation email to activate their subscribtion. If they do not respond to this email then they will not be added to your lists.

How does it work?
You have a new account menu option which allows you to configure the extra settings relating to the double opt-in feature.

These new settings include the confirmation page that displays after initial 'registration' of an email address, and the confirmation email that is sent to the registered email address. This confirmation email contains a link which must be clicked by the recipient in order to complete the subscription process.

You can define the text and any personalisation to be included in the confirmation email, and the email can be in HTML format as well as plain text.

Once the email recipient clicks on the link within the confirmation email their email address will be added to your lists. At this point they will be forwarded to a 'thank you' page which you can define within the main 'Account Settings' option. You can also choose to send an additional welcome message by email on completion of their subscription.

Confirmed subscribers means peace of mind!
Not only will you be sure that all new subscribers are opted-in, but we also store and make available to you the IP address and date/time of their confirmed subscription, should you ever need this information in case of a dispute. You can see this information by clicking on the individual email address within the relevant list.

Manage single opt-in and double opt-in within one account
Our service is truly unique in allowing you to manage lists containing both single and double opt-in email addresses. We appreciate the fact that you may have spent time and money accumulating trouble-free single opt-in subscriber lists and that you wish to continue using these email addresses.

Our system allows you to select whether to send email campaigns to either single or double opted-in subscribers, or both. A single list can contain both single and double opted-in emails.

Furthermore you can choose to convert your existing single opt-in subscribers to double opt-in by requesting them to confirm their subscription. Please note that if you do this then your existing single opt-in subscribers that do not confirm their subscription will not be available for future email campaigns.

If you would like to use double opt-in for your clients' email manager accounts there is a small extra monthly charge per account.

Please contact us at support@dms-ezone.com or call 0117 934 1600 if you would like to enable Double Opt-in for any of your accounts, or if you have any other questions at all.
